On 24th March 2020 the honourable Prime Minister of India has called for a complete lock down of the entire country for the next 21 days.
This is the need of the hour and the Prime Minister Modi has taken the right step.
While the common man in India is just busy trying to protect himself from being infected from Corona virus, the caregivers are facing an additional problem. They are trying to save their animals from dying due to starvation and thirst.
Many of them feed dogs near their offices or places far away from their residences. So going to feed to such far off places is requiring transportation and police permission.
Many caregivers have already started facing this problem as the police is not allowing them to move out on roads without valid passes. And they are finding it difficult to get passes.
The good thing is that the AWBI has already issued letters to the states saying that feeding animals is an essential.service therefore their feeding should be kept operational during the lockdown.
Being a caregiver is not easy in India. Earlier it was the dog haters. And now it is Corona virus.
But this is one thing for which the government machinery is not responsible.
They are doing their best. Whether it be the central government or the state government.
The caregivers are brave people who are always ready to counter any challenge. They have not stopped their essential service of feeding the dogs. Feeding stray is everybody's duty but unfortunately only few realize it.
The pic in this post is of a WhatsApp conversation of dog haters living in Gurgaon. ( Delhi NCR,)
Today due to Corona many human lives have been lost but these individuals are far from realising how life is the most beautiful gift of God. Life is precious to all. No one wants to die whether it be a human or an animal.
According to these men a dog is meant to be abused and kicked. They find the animal law disgusting because it prohibits them from beating and kicking a dog. But in spite of that they have been kicking dogs.
This conversation clearly shows the law enforcement of animal.laws in India and people's mentality towards the man's, best friend.
The caregivers fight with such people on a daily basis.
And now they are fighting with the lockdown which might starve many dogs in India.
The administration is already overburdened with so many important issues like health care facility, sanitation, supply of essential.goods for human survival etc.
Animal life generally takes a back seat in such a scenario but then a little help from the administration can help the caregivers in saving so many lives.
The authorities especially the police should permit such caregivers to move on roads and feed the needy animal.
Why have we humans become so greedy and selfish? We are only thinking about saving our lives and totally forgotting about the voiceless who are our responsibility.
Isn't buying grocery, vegetables and other essential.items more risky than feeding an animal who cannot transmit Corona virus?
The groceries and vegetables passes through several human hands before reaching the consumer and his house. Who knows one of those hands may have had Corona......
They say precaution is better than cure. So let's take all precautionary measures and fight back Corona.
Wish our corporations had also taken preventive measures by getting the dogs vaccinated then today India would have been canine rabies free.
Why wait for rabies to happen in the man"s best friend?
