Swachhta Abhiyaan (cleanliness drive) which was started by our honourable Prime Minister about 5 years ago is indeed a great initiative.
Cleanliness not only looks good but is also the most fundamental thing in keeping a healthy environment. Without clean India we can't dream of a healthy India.
The stray dogs are found in every place of India and as they are territorial therefore they do not encroach on some one elses land easily.
The dogs who live inside the colonies are luckier as they easily get caregivers but the ones living on the roads and outskirts of the colony are the unlucky ones. And they are the ones who generally find food in the garbage bins.
While the municipal corporations have done a good job in almost all the cities of India by installing garbage bins and also by regularly getting the bins and the area cleaned but no one has thought about the those dogs who survive on garbage (food waste).
There is a need to provide food and water to these helpless souls too. Shooing them away from those areas is no solution at all. Rather by giving them food and water we shall not only confine them at that place but also get them sterilized and vaccinated. This will gradually help in getting their population reduced.
Also a dog who is well nourished is less likely to get sick and is also less likely to get irritated. It is generally out of provocation and irritation that the dogs attack and bite.
At Panipat in the state of Haryana an animal welfare NGO (Momstylefood) is installing food stations for stray dogs and birds. They have already done it successfully at many places.

Why can't the municipal corporations of every state in India with the help of the caregivers install such food stations for dogs near every garbage area so that the dogs living in that area do not eat junk from the garbage and also do not starve to death.
This is a video of how stray dogs eat rubbish from the garbage bins in India. Garbage bins are their life line. One can see how desperately the dogs are looking for a piece of bread or biscuit in the bin.

Isn't it sad that we starve the dogs by not providing them with food and water and when they look for food in garbage bins we blame them for creating mess around the garbage area? We accuse them of dirtying our area. Are they really guilty?
Why can't we provide dogs near the garbage area with food and water?
Is it difficult to do or is it a lack of will to do?
