What can be more shameful that a group of around 100 people gathered on the streets of Indirapuram, Ghaziabad  on 12th February 2020 to  protest against the stray dogs inhabiting their area. Their demand is to get the dogs removed. According to them these dogs are ferocious and a threat to their kids.

A lady representative (Priyanka Rana) of the dog hate group in an interview said that the government has done nothing in the last five years to stop the dog menace. She has written letters to the chief minister, tweeted him so many times, asked the municipal corporation to get the dogs picked and also asked PFA the animal welfare NGO working in Ghaziabad to remove the dogs but they have all turned a blind eye.

Priyanka's Facebook profile says that she is into media and working with an NGO (Khushi Foundation). Five long years have passed writing letters to the chief minister and the corporation  but she couldn't update herself with dog rules 2001. By giving such an interview she is only showing her ignorance of law and complete lack of empathy towards dogs. If only she had taken some time out and gone on the animal welfare board of India website and read the rules. .......

One does not expect such brainless comments by a person working in media and such lack of compassion from a person working with an NGO. She seems to have both. No compassion and no knowledge.

What measures has Priyanka taken to get all the dogs of her area sterilized or immunized against rabies?

She also claims  in the video that she had a word with the corporation to open shelter homes for these dogs but till date the corporation has not opened any shelters for them.

After seeing the video one thing is very clear that in all her correspondences with the chief minister or the corporation Priyanka was never told about the ABC programme,  dog vaccination and dog rules ( that relocation of dogs is an offence).

Had she knew the law then probably she would be blaming the law and not the Chief Minister, PFA and the corporation. Neither she cared to find it out herself nor the corporation or the chief minsters office bothered to give her in writing.

Wonder why in her meeting with the corporation the corporation did not give her a copy of the dog laws?

Just fail to understand.

Also why did the corporation ever promised these people for opening a shelter for the stray dogs? Why promise something which is illegal? Doesn't the corporation know that relocation or removal of dogs from their area is illegal and against dog rules 2001?

After seeing the video it's very clear that people of Ghaziabad have only been taken for a ride by the government machinery.

Both the dog haters and the caregivers.

Ghaziabad municipal corporation please wake up. Tell the people of your area the dog rules 2001. Put them in public places like parks and market area. Tell people to get the dogs of their area sterilized. Control their population. Open more sterilization units. Why make mindless registration policies for pet dogs.

Already wasted a lot of time in making apps for online pet registration.

Just how many pet dogs people have in Ghaziabad? One can see the kind of love people have for dogs in Ghaziabad.

If only the corporation had used last five years in creating more sterilization units, carried out annual rabies vaccination, and created awareness about rabies, it's control and general dog behaviour then this situation would have never emerged.

Dogs living in Ghaziabad are no different from dogs in Delhi or Gurugram or any part of India. They are not ferocious. Rather it is the people of Ghaziabad who seem to have become more ferocious and a threat to the lives of the stray dogs living there. If openly they are against the dogs  so much then one can well imagine what treatment they must be giving to them and their caregivers.

This is what the caregivers of Ghaziabad are telling about the protestors and it is going viral in all animal groups:

"Kindly REPORT THIS PAGE. These ppl are poisoning stray dogs and killing them. They have already physically *attacked* the feeders and now they demand all animals to be dumped.
Don't let this hate win. Let's prove humanity is still alive. We will not let them harm the innocent lives.
Please circulate far and wide and report this page. This is the least we can do to help the voiceless."

There have been reports of dog poisoning in Indirapuram. The same place where now dog haters are protesting.

Just a few days back several dogs were removed from Manokamna apt by the residents themselves. The caregiver Anita made police complaint and did everything possible to get the dogs back but nothing happened. And finally a dog was removed by the orders of the corporation.

Was that a right move?

The move was not only illegal but has sent a wrong message to the people of Ghaziabad.

Now every apartment of Ghaziabad want their dogs removed.

God save the dogs of Ghaziabad.
