When it comes to keeping dogs as pets majority of the Indians like to keep the pedigree breed. They often buy them from breeders who are into dog selling trade. This is mostly being done illegally because as per law the breeders cannot import foreign breed dogs which happen to be the pedigree breed. And there are certain conditions for breeding but those conditions are flouted by the breeders in India.

Anyhow, the pedigree dogs which Indians mostly buy and keep as pets are Pug, Labrador, Saint Bernard, Husky, Golden Retriever and the list goes on.

The problem is that most of the time these dogs end up on the streets of India because their  owners have abandoned them. They are mostly abandoned when they are sick or old. The owner had anyway kept the dog not out of love but for uplifting his status. The dog for him was just a status symbol and a commodity and never a family member.

Trupti (M-7503427297 ) started a forever home called Blessed by Paws about five years ago in Dwarka (Delhi) especially for these helpless souls who were first bought at exorbitant price by their owners and then abandoned to die on the streets just because they were now sick and old. She recently has shifted to Gurgaon which has more space for her four legged friends.

The Indian breed dog is quite smart and knows very well how to live on the streets. Although his life is not easy but compared to an abandoned pedigree breed its still better because he is born on the street. He knows how to pick up food from the garbage and how to protect himself from rain and cold.

Also the climatic conditions for an Indian breed is more suitable than a foreign breed who generally comes from cold countries. Hence, the pedigree breed are more likely to fall sick in the Indian climate than the Indian breed dogs. And when that happens many of their owners abandon them.

Trupti is like an Angel for these lost and abandoned souls. One of the most senior dog a pug is almost 90 percent blind. There is another abandoned Labrador with her who is suffering from neurological disorders.

She has given home to these unwanted and unloved beings. She tries her best to find a home for them but it's often difficult to get homes for old and sick dogs.

Any form of cruelty towards dogs is a punishable offence in India including abandoning the dogs. But who cares about laws in India? Especially when it is related to dogs.......
