Tonight a letter was sent to the Chief Minister of Delhi seeking an appointment for meeting him and discussing this petition for making Delhi canine rabies free. Not by killing the dogs but by participating in the ABC programme.

The letter was sent on his official email. The content of the letter is given below:

"Shri Arvind Kejriwal

Chief Minister of Delhi

Dear Sir,

Greetings!

As you are aware that I have started a petition on change.org addressed to you for bringing a change in the faulty system of the ABC programme which is currently being implemented by the MCD with the help of handful of NGOs.
Stray dogs have increased in large numbers in the city of Delhi but it is not due to their fault. The growing urbanisation and faulty implementation of the ABC program has led to this problem.
The common man of Delhi is still ignorant about the ABC programme and without people's participation especially that of the dog feeders  and caregivers the problem of overpopulation can never get tackled.
Also there is complete ignorance about stray dog laws. Relocation, killing and beating a dog is a punishable offence but people of Delhi especially the RWAs are resorting to all such illegal solutions. The caregivers and dog feeders often face resistance from other residents primarily due to their ignorance about dog laws, dog behaviour and rabies.

We have to bring few changes in the way the ABC is being run in the capital city and also create public awareness about dog laws and their behaviour.
Your government has done a commendable job in the area of health and education.

Rabies is a deadly disease but one which can be easily prevented. It concerns both health and education. People need to be educated about rabies. Unfortunately there are a lot of myths attached with rabies and stray dogs. They need to be busted and it is only the Delhi Government which can do it.
Sir, let's make Delhi canine rabies free. And let's bring a peaceful coexistence between man and dog which is considered man's best friend.
Without your help and support we cannot achieve our objective.
The petition has currently 1310 supporters out of which many are citizens of different nations especially USA and UK which are both dog friendly countries. They have signed the petition because they feel horrible for what is happening to the dogs and the dog feeders in Delhi and the rest of India.
We can't change the whole of India but at least with your help and support we can change Delhi.

Sir, kindly spare few minutes from your precious time and read the petition. I have posted many updates of which few are from other parts of India. I am quite sure that after reading the petition and the updates you will realize that bringing a positive change towards dogs is not all that difficult. And it is sheer ignorance about dog behaviour and dog laws that there is so much unrest in the city especially among the RWAs when it comes to stray dogs.
Lastly, I would like to wish you a very happy new year 2020.
I really hope that this year brings a positive change in the mindset of people towards the man's best friend and you become the changemaker for that.
Kindly, give me a suitable date and time when I can meet you in person and give you the petition.
Looking forward to meeting you soon....

Best regards,
Anu
