Vandana Jain a lady who has revolutionised the whole of Indore city and many parts of Madhya Pradesh ( a state in India) with her very innovative and compassionate initiative called Dogitization for the stray dogs living in various cities of Madhya Prafesh. She has already brought a tremendous change in the mind set of people towards dogs. But without government support no matter how much a caregiver tries the results are never 100 percent.
Recently Vandana had installed water pots for the dogs in the city of Indore. People just don't realize that as we feel thirsty so do animals. Most of the water pots got stolen or were broken. What a waste of money and a set back to the caregivers who with a lot of passion install such pots.
So Vandana approached the Municipal Corporation of Indore for a solution and she got one.
The municipal corporation advised her to put the name of the corporation on the pots.
This has solved three problems:
1 People do not touch government property out of fear. So now the water containers are intact
2 The dogs who are hungry or are thirsty are often irritated and on the slightest provocation they tend to bite. Now the dogs are not thirsty, so they are not proked easily. Hence, no dog bites.
3 The municipal corporation is sending a direct message to the people of Indore that they should have compassion towards the voiceless souls and should coexist with dogs peacefully.
Mahatma Gandhi the father of the nation said "the growth of a Nation and it's moral progress can be judged by the way it's animals are treated"
Indore city has come a long way and is definitely far ahead from any other city in India including Delhi. It's s shame that the capital city of India failed it's own stray dogs and it's caregivers. It's time now for it to act in a positive direction.
The municipal corporation of other cities also should wake up and start walking on the footsteps of the Indore Municipal Corporation.
