A female dog with her two pups is starving to death in Dahanu (Maharashra). The place is around 100 kilometres from the financial capital of India which is Mumbai. The city is not only the financial capital but also the centre of cinema (Bollywood). India's most famous and rich people reside in this city. Right from the richest businessman like Ambanis and the Tatas to the rich and famous Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan and the Khans (Salman, Sharukh and Aamir).
It's a pity that a city which has such influencial people have not done much for these voiceless souls. Although Tatas and Ambanis have contributed towards stray dog welfare but that's not enough. We need more in this area and on a regular basis.
The dog it seems met with an accident few years back and since then her legs got paralyzed. She was just recovering from the accident when she became pregnant and delivered babies. Post delivery due to malnutrition and lack of proper care she became very weak. She can now barely walk and taking care of her two pups is just out of question.
Some volunteers (caregivers / dog feeders) are helping her. But she needs good care.

The question is could her life been better?
The answer is Yes. Had she been sterelized.
She was getting better post accident but getting pregnant and delivering babies has made both her life and her pups life a living hell.
Can the rich and the famous people of Mumbai help these stray dogs?
They have both money and power.
They can do so much to help these souls.
There are two basic problems related with the stray dogs in India:
1 overpopulation
2 lack of social acceptance
To overcome the problem of overpopulation the business houses can come forward and open Sterilization centres in large numbers in the whole of India. They can very well do it as their CSR initiative. The government machinery unfortunately hasn't been able to provide sufficient numbers of Sterilization centres in India
The Bollywood actors can create awareness about the Indian breed dog which unfortunately roams about in the streets of India as a stray. No home, no water, no food and no kindness .We need ambassadors for the Indian dog. Someone who can tell people that they are as good a breed as the pedigree breed. They are not dirty and they are not rabid. They are as loving and loyal as any other breed. Awareness about rabies vaccination and the ABC programme can do wonders for the Indian society who are still unaware about these two very important measures to control dog population and to eradicate canine rabies from India.
