Ruchi (M-8860646671) a homemaker and in her early thirties is taking care of around 70 stray dogs who are are all rescued dogs in her home which is in Ajmeri Gate ( Old Delhi).  Can anyone believe this. You got to see it to believe it.

She is surrounded by dogs all the time. She is neither running any NGO nor any boarding house for dogs. She just couldn't see a dog dying on the streets of Delhi abandoned or injured so she got them to her house.

She spends thousands of rupees not only on their daily food but also on their medication in case they fall sick. Not only this she also tries to get all the dogs sterilized in her neighborhood. She is 24 hours available for any dog who requires any help in her area.

The dogs are indeed very lucky to have got space in her not so large home but definitely they all have a place in her very large heart.

She is extremely fortunate to have a very understanding husband who not only supports her in this very noble endeavour of hers but also manages the finances to keep her good work going.

Sometimes she gets donations in cash and kind from her friends. In winters which are fast approaching in Delhi she has asked for warm beddings, blankets and coats for her four legged friends.

But all is not so rosy and nice for her. She is constantly harassed by her neighbors for keeping the dogs. Not a day goes by when her neighbors do not curse her or say bad things to her.

But she resists and tolerates all the humiliation for the love of her voiceless friends.

Ruchi is a young married lady and just like any young woman her age she too must be wanting to go out on weekends with her husband. May be visiting relatives watching movies or partying.

But the dogs do not give Ruchi anytime for partying or for going on vacations. For her Monday and Saturday are just the same  No weekends for her

This is not only the story of Ruchi. Almost all caregivers on an average take care of  12 to 15 dogs and for all of them going on vacations or even falling sick is not allowed. They all try to make some arrangements for feeding the dogs when they are on vacations or fall sick. But not all are lucky so on those days the dogs remain hungry. They just keep waiting and looking for their caregiver..........

This is the fate of all the dogs on the streets of Delhi who neither have a home nor a caregiver. They sleep empty stomach that is if they get nothing in the garbage bin......
