A letter asking for improvement in the ABC programme and various other dog related issues were given by the Indie Dog Commune an NGO which looks into cases of animal cruelty and tries to minimise them to the Mayor of East Delhi on 20th November 2019.
The founder of the NGO Leena Sharma (M-9891662656) is a lawyer by profession and it is the growing cruelty towards animals especially dogs in the city of Delhi that made her to start Indie Dog Commune. Being a caregiver herself she knows the trauma and pain a dog feeder goes through on a daily basis. The animal welfare laws being taken for granted and not being implemented properly makes her very frustrated.
Some of the highlights of the letter are:
1 Bring peoples participation by bringing in collaboration between the NGOs ( Sterilization centre) and RWA)
2 Send circulars to all the RWAs informing them about the dog laws especially the three laws: any form of cruelty towards dogs is an offence; caregivers and dog feeders not to be harassed and stopped from feeding; dogs not to be relocated or removed from their place of birth.
3 Put boards and hoardings in public places to bring awareness about ABC programme and stray dog laws.
4 Shut down the Usmanpur center for Sterilization or improve its working. Because many dogs have died or fallen sick after being dropped back post Sterilization by the centre.
Do you think the Mayor will take any action on these very important and vital points made in the letter.
Let's wait and watch ...
The Indie Dog Commune should send the letter to all the Mayors of Delhi. Let's hope they all wake up and do something positive and concrete for the man's best friend in Delhi
