Not all is bad in the city of Delhi. There are a few RWA who know the dog laws and appreciate and acknowledge the work being done by the caregivers in their colony. They neither stop the dog feeders from feeding the dogs nor indulge in any kind of relocation or cruelty towards stray dogs residing in their Colony. This is the RWA of Vivek Vihar phase 2, Block B. It has even issued a letter of appreciation to one if it's caregiver who feeds and takes care of more than half the dogs in his colony. He is Anurag Sharma (M-9868886064). A young man who is an architect by profession. His job keeps him very busy but just like all the dog feeders / caregivers in India he too could not see the dogs in his colony suffer. So he not only started feeding them but also got them sterilized. He also gets all the dogs vaccinated with the help of Dr Gautam a vet every year.
The job of a caregiver is not easy. It's quite a task. Keeping one dog by a pet owner alone is quite time consuming and requires a lot of energy. So one can imagine what life a dog feeder / caregiver must be living who on an average takes care of 10 to 12 dogs. It's not easy to be a caregiver in India. Feeding not only puts a huge burden on their pocket but also drains them out mentally and physically. To add to it they are constantly threatened and manhandled by the other residents and RWA who ask them not to feed the dogs.
The RWA of Vivek Vihar is an exception. And Anurag is one in a thousand dog feeder whose contribution is being appreciated by his RWA that too in writing.
Today the colony of Vivek Vihar Phase 2 block B is not only canine rabies free but has also curtailed its stray dog population. This has been possible only because of the efforts of Anurag and full cooperation of his RWA.
Why can't the RWAs of other colonies do the same?
What stops them?
