Actualización sobre la peticiónMake India canine rabies free. By implementing ABC rules not Killing, Relocating DogsParallel implementation of the ABC programme by the caregivers

There is a parallel implementation of the ABC programme being run in Delhi which is definitely more humane than the one being officially run by the MCD. This is being done by the caregivers who are aware of the ABC programme. They are few in number but their contribution is immense.

They don't wait for the MCD to pick up the dogs for Sterilization and vaccination instead they tie up with the NGO of that area which carries out Sterilization and send the dogs to them.

The NGOs too like Friendicoes, Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre, Sonadi, PAWS etc give full cooperation to these caregivers in getting the dogs sterilized. The caregivers often take the dogs in their own vehicle (own cars, autos, cabs) or call an ambulance and pay them the money.  The caregivers come from all strata. They are rich as well as poor but they all have one motive. The welfare of their four legged friends and the children and people living in their colony. They are selfless people who are doing a great service to the society.

Had these caregivers been missing the dog population would have been just double or may be more. Just imagine what will be the  dog population if these care givers are gone ????

Unfortunately their contribution and their help towards ABC programme is totally unacknowledged. Instead of being thanked by their colony people and the RWA they are often abused, threatened and ridiculed. This is indeed very shameful.

It's very sad that till now neither the government nor the MCD could tap this very important human resource which exists in every colony and take their help and assistance in the implementation of the ABC programme. Which is the only legal and  ethical way to restrict  dog population. Relocation of dogs from their area and killing them are both crimes which unfortunately most of the RWAs are indulging in. It's high time the MCD and the government direct the RWAs to help in the implementation of the ABC programme and not to kill or relocate the dogs of their area.

Some of the caregivers who are very active in getting the dogs of their colonies sterilized and vaccinated are:

Madhu

(M- 8826071748)

She stays in Mohan Garden which is near Uttam Nagar. She has till now got over 100 dogs sterilized not only in her own colony and the adjoining areas but also in areas like Pagati Maidan, Nizamuddin etc. Wherever she sees an unsterilised dog she sees to it that the dog gets sterilized.

Recently a dog got killed in her area. The previous post was regarding the same dog.. What has happened to the culprits? Nothing. They are still happily roaming and all set to kill another dog. They just don't see any harm in killing a dog. For them a mosquito and a dog are same. You just have a right to kill both.

For all the hard work Madhu has put in  there is no word of appreciation from the RWA or her neighbours. Instead what has she got?

Only hostility and isolation. She was recently thrown out of the WhatsApp group of her colony. What was her  crime? She feeds the dogs of her area.

Charu

(M-9899120755)

She stays in Pitampura and her contribution is no less. She is a very calm person but  when someone harms the dogs she becomes Durga. She will go to any extent to protect the voicelss soul. Recently in the name of swatchhta a public park of her area got installed with new gates to keep the dogs away from entering the parks. This is the latest excuse people of Delhi and the RWAs are making to torture the dogs and the dog feeders. As if all the garbage on the streets and the parks are due to dogs  and the caregivers.  Charu single handedly fought for the rights of the dogs to enter the parks. She ultimately got the park open for the dogs. She tirelessly works for the dogs of her area. Again without any help from the MCD. She too has got more than 100 dogs sterilized and vaccinated.

Sunita

(M- 8851960447)

A resident of Mayur Vihar has made it her life's mission to get all the dogs sterilized of her colony and the adjoining areas. She too has faced a lot of opposition from her own colony people for feeding the dogs but that has never deterred this strong lady from feeding the dogs of her atea and getting them sterilized

There are many more people who are tirelessly working for the dogs. But what are they getting in return? Only humiliation and regular quarrels from the RWA.

These are the unsung heroes whose contribution no one acknowledges. Neither the government nor the media
