The dog killing spree continues in Delhi. A caregiver / dog feeder Madhu (M- 8826071748) from Mohan Garden, B Block (near Uttam Nagar) has  reported that a dog who was apparently abandoned by it's owner has been killed to death by the residents of her colony. According to her the dog was probably abandoned by it's owner and came to her colony looking and searching for it's owner. The dog was wearing a collar when he came to the colony.

It's very difficult for a new dog to adjust with other dogs of the locality as dogs are highly territorial and they attack and bark at an alien dog. This dog faced the same fate. He was not only sad and lonely as he had lost his owner and home but also was fighting with other dogs for his survival. At this time Madhu and her friend tried to bring some comfort to him. They tried to get him adjusted with other dogs by feeding him and taking care of him.

The shelter homes for dogs are very few and are overcrowded in Delhi. Providing shelter to abandoned and lost dogs in shelter homes is next to impossible so the caregivers in Delhi try to get such dogs adjusted in their own locality. Sometime they succeed as the dogs of the locality accept them and sometimes they fail as the local dogs hound such dogs away.

This dog would have easily adjusted with the local dogs but getting acceptability from the local human residents was next to impossible. They would often shoo him and beat him up.

Last week Madhu was out of station and during her absence the residents killed the dog. When she returned she was told that the dog was beaten brutally and his legs were also tied up.

Few good hearted souls had taken the half dead dog to Sonadi ( dog shelter) for treatment but he couldn't survive the human brutality and died. Madhu was late to return. The dog had already left for his heavenly abode.

May his soul rest in peace.
