The Issue

We’re calling on East Riding of Yorkshire Council to introduce a 20mph speed limit on Hull Road near Woodmansey CE Primary School to protect children walking to school and prevent future accidents.

Every day, children and families walk just feet away from fast-moving traffic on Hull Road as they travel to and from Woodmansey CE Primary School.

Despite clear school signage and a designated crossing point, cars regularly speed along this stretch of road. Many drivers fail to stop at crossings, and there have been several recent accidents and near misses. Parents are rightfully concerned that without urgent action, a serious or even fatal incident is inevitable.

We, the undersigned, are calling on East Riding of Yorkshire Council to immediately introduce a 20mph speed limit on Hull Road in the vicinity of Woodmansey CE Primary School.

Lowering the speed limit would:

 • Encourage safer driving behaviour

 • Give drivers more time to react near crossings

 • Significantly reduce the risk and severity of accidents

 • Help protect children, parents, school staff, and all pedestrians

Our children deserve to feel safe walking to school. We urge the Council to take swift and decisive action before someone is seriously hurt.

Please sign and share this petition to show your support for a safer Hull Road. Together, we can help prevent future accidents and protect our community.
