Yesterday made a month since Trump and Vance had been in office. Cabinet members who were confirmed include secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Health and Human Services RFK Jr,  United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Scott Turner, Attorney General Pam Bodi, and Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent. Those who didn't need confirmation by Congress are Chief of Staff Susie Wules and Elon Musk as the head of the newly created Department of Government Efficiency. There are still cabinet members who are yet to be confirmed, like U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. I feel like we're now in a new era of conservatism with the Republican President and Vice President and both chambers of Congress have a majority of Republicans. I see that Trump's second term is pretty mixed as of right now with deportations, the citizenship executive order, and that inflation is still at an all time high despite him promising to keep it down. I find presidents have little to do with inflation and the only way a president has an effect is by imposing tariffs on our biggest trade partners. That could mean less of a particular product because the other country would be less able to pay for giving more for us. When supply goes down while demand stays around the same (or even possibly goes up), prices go up. Even if they still sell the same amount, they need to raise the prices to make up for the loss of money from the tariffs. It's not a good business model if you keep on selling a product for less than what you pay for it. Tariffs just encourage way more inflation in my eyes.

I feel like everything that happens between now and November 2026 will affect the Republican majority in Congress, if it does good in our (as in us the citizens) eyes, the majority stays. Bad, Democrats could get the majority. I feel like Democrats will get the majority in Congress as that's exactly what happened halfway through Trump's First term. As well, Republicans had gotten the majority in the House halfway through Biden's term. I feel like whatever happens next year, if Republicans keep their majority or democrats gain the majority, I find it'll be more representative of us if we get election day a federal holiday to insure everybody has their voice heard. Remember to do what you can in sharing as that helps guarantee more signatures and more signatures means it's more likely this will happen. We currently have 83 signatures, need 17 more for 100.

Yesterday was also Mitch McConnell (coincidentally, he turned 83 like how many signatures this petition has). He has been a senator representing Kentucky from 1985. Yesterday he announced he will not be seeking reelection next year (I find that's good if we get new leadership rather than just seeing the same couple faces over and over and over again). He had served as Senate Majority Whip from 2003 to 2007, Senate Majority Leader from 2015 to 2021, and Senate Minority Leader from 2021 to 2025.
