Make Corner Crossing Legal in Wyoming
The Issue
Wyoming's current law affecting corner crossings in somewhat ambiguous, and is the subject of an ongoing case in Carbon County.
We want to change the law, and pass new legislation that would make corner crossing clearly and explicitly legal in Wyoming. Specifically:
(a) The act of a person entering public land from another parcel of public land shall not constitute trespass for any purpose of Wyoming law if:
(i) The person's presence upon both parcels of public land is otherwise lawful; and
(ii) The person does not touch the surface of private property, including any lawful improvement upon the private property.
(b) For purposes of this section "public land" means any land under the jurisdiction of a federal government agency, the state board of land commissioners, other state government entity or any political subdivision of the state, which the public is authorized to use without obtaining legal permission from a private landowner or the government entity having jurisdiction.
You can help by signing this petition and getting clarifying legislation passed in the State Legislature.
