Make Congress Act

Make Congress Act
The Issue
My name is Anderson Miller and my goal is to raise awerenes about the high prices of drugs and treatments and to contact the United States congress to add or change policies to lower the cost. Millions of people around the world are faced with an impossible decision between their health and their finances due to the overwhelming cost of prescription drugs. For many, especially those living with chronic or life-threatening conditions, essential medications remain out of reach because they cannot afford them.
Several factors contribute to the high price of medications, such as monopolies held by pharmaceutical companies, long patent periods that prevent generic alternatives from entering the market, and the substantial costs associated with drug research and development. Despite these factors, access to affordable healthcare should be seen as a fundamental right, not a privilege for only those who can afford it.
In the United States, the situation is especially dire, with drug prices being 2.56 times higher than in 32 other countries. This enormous disparity leads to widespread financial strain, with many patients forced into debt or making the heartbreaking decision to ration their medications, risking their health in the process.
We urgently need regulations that promote market competition, shorten patent periods, and ensure fair pricing for life-saving drugs. Additionally, public funding for medical research is essential to reduce the industry's reliance on big pharmaceutical companies, making treatments more accessible for everyone.
This petition is a call to action, urging lawmakers to make the necessary changes to lower drug costs and ensure that essential medications are within reach for all individuals, regardless of their financial situation. Sign today to join the movement and help make affordable healthcare a reality for millions of people.
