Make Bullies, Schools and Education Dept Legally Accountable for Bullying-Related Suicides

Make Bullies, Schools and Education Dept Legally Accountable for Bullying-Related Suicides
The Issue
Bullying-related suicide is becoming all too prevalent. This morning I read a post about a beautiful 8 year old little girl who took her own life due to severe and relentless bullying. Eight years old! Still just a baby who should be at home playing with Lego and watching Disney movies!
Imagine the pain of a parent who loses a child, not to an illness or accident, but to a crisis that we, as a society, could have and ought to prevent: suicide due to bullying. This isn't an isolated occurrence or a distant statistic. It deeply affects people like you and me, who care about our children, their safety, and their mental well-being. The prevalence of bullying is alarmingly high in our schools, becoming a pressing issue in our education system.
According to a study done by Yale University, bullying victims are between 2 to 9 times more likely to consider suicide than non-victims. This shocking information underscores the need for drastic change in the way we handle bullying both in schools and at a legislative level.
We are therefore urging for the revision of legal frameworks to hold bullies, schools and the education department accountable for any child suicide related to bullying. This includes implementing comprehensive anti-bullying programs, conducting regular mental health checks and, quite importantly, setting legal consequences for negligence in doing so.
Our children's lives are at stake. No one should have to bury their child because of a completely preventable tragedy. Let us initiate the change to protect our children today! Please sign this petition to make bullies, schools and the education department legally accountable for bullying-related suicides.
