Hi neighbours,
Just wanted to share an update on this - after a few delays, the report requesting funding for a safer pedestrian crossing at the Auburn rd/Bowler st intersection has now been submitted to the Department of Traffic. The report includes our community petition, so thank you all once again for your support!
The Boroondara council team hasn’t been able to confirm any timelines going forward but they’ll keep me updated and I’ll post any progress.
Really hopeful for a positive result :).
Kind regards,
Kirsten
FYI the email response I received from the Boroondara team this evening:
“Hi Kirsten,
The report and petition were submitted to the Department of Transport yesterday.
They will now review the report and ask any questions they may have in the coming weeks.
The report seeks both approval and funding commitment from the State Government for one of the two options presented:
1. Pedestrian operated signals
2. Pedestrian refuge islands
We aren’t able to provide any timelines at this stage but can keep you informed throughout the process.
In terms of sharing the technical report, as this was prepared by an external consultant, I am currently confirming our policy. Once I have a concrete answer on whether or not we can share all of the report, I will let you know.
Kind regards,
Ella Constable
Senior Transport Engineer”
