Debate on parliment.tv regarding perscritption charges at 4.30pm on Monday 11th March

I am a grieving parent who lost my 25-year-old son to an asthma attack on December 29, 2023. No parent should ever have to experience the pain of losing a child, especially when their death could have been prevented with proper and affordable treatment. Asthma is not just a minor inconvenience; it is a serious condition that can be fatal if not managed correctly.

In the UK, approximately 5.4 million people are currently receiving treatment for this disease (source: Asthma UK). Despite these high numbers, asthma medication is not free on the NHS in England. This creates financial barriers for many families and individuals who struggle to afford their necessary medication.

We believe that access to life-saving medication should be a right, not a privilege determined by one's ability to pay. We call upon the NHS and the government of England to make all asthma treatments free of charge. This will ensure that everyone suffering from this condition has equal access to necessary care and can manage their symptoms effectively without fear of cost.

Please sign this petition if you believe in healthcare equality and want to prevent unnecessary deaths due to asthma in England.
