Make an affordable vegan burger at McDonald's
Make an affordable vegan burger at McDonald's
The Issue
As a former meat eater who has recently turned vegetarian due to environmental concerns and a love for all animals, no matter how good they taste, I am not only disappointed in the tiny variety of vegetarian/vegan options in McDonald's but absolutely APPALLED by the ever rising prices. I demand a change!!
We are in a cost of living crisis. Imagine you are one of the thousands who are already working long hours for very little wages. All you want is a fast, warm meal from one of the only places open when your shift is over. But when you walk into McDonald's, what you see before you is horrifying...
The only burger you can buy (in comparison to the full meat-eaters menu with varied price points and burgers) is the price of an hours work.
How is it that McDonald's, somewhere that is open about its inclusiveness cannot create a vegan burger on its savers menu? For 99p, you can buy a range of chicken/beef burgers. Before arguing the Mcplant is a healthy option, think about those who do not have the luxury of choosing a healthy option over a cheap one. Vegetarians and vegans are being forced to give up their core principles just to afford a meal. Are vegans not allowed to be poor?? Of course there are vegan options available you may add, at a reasonable price point at other restaurants. I think you need to check your definition of Reasonable!
Not only this, but the Mcplant was only added to the menu very recently.
The aim of this petition is simple, and helpful to many. All I am asking for is for McDonald's to make a 99p (or slightly more as vegan meat is more 'expensive') burger with a vegan patty? Is it that hard?
