Make all SDSU classrooms accessible for students with disabilities

Make all SDSU classrooms accessible for students with disabilities
The Issue
I am starting this petition on behalf of my friend Richard German, a third-year Sustainability student at San Diego State University. Richard, along with many other SDSU students with disabilities, struggle on a daily basis due to not being able to access their classrooms.
Unfortunately, there are many classrooms at SDSU that do not come with automatic doors that open with the push of a button or are activated by a sensor. The lack of these devices impose a direct challenge to students that rely on them in order to have an equal access to education.
In many instances Richard is late to class as he has to wait over 30 minutes until someone notices his situation and assists him with opening the door. Other times, he misses class completely when there is no one around to help. There are many other students who share similar stories to Richard's.
College campus buildings are required to be easily accessible for those with physical disabilities, including impaired mobility, loss of vision or hearing. But not all have embraced the latest ADA Amendments Act of 2008.
Please sign this petition to demand that San Diego State University implements the use of automatic doors in all of their classrooms in order for students with disabilities to have an equal access to education!
