Good morning Super Supporters!

I am absolutely ecstatic to be breaking some VERY EXCITING news today. Lil-Lets are removing plastic applicators from their products and launching a reusable tampon applicator!

Lil-Let’s move to ditching plastic applicators will save over 11+ tonnes of plastic each year! The removal of applicators wasn’t always on the table, so you can imagine how thrilled I am that they’ve made this decision. As a major manufacturer, their transformation shows that brands can change if they are willing and open to, and we need more companies to follow their lead.

In addition to this they are stepping into the reusable market with their new reusable tampon applicator! The applicator is designed to be reused repeatedly for years, by using it individuals can save 286 disposable applicators yearly, that’s 2,860 over 10 years, or over 11,000 per menstruating lifetime. This will raise awareness of different options and push sustainable choices into the mainstream.

Details on the removal of applicators:
Lil-Lets have two ranges with disposable plastic applicators. The teen range has already stopped being made, and the main range will cease to be manufactured after November 2021. You may still see them in shops as they sell down existing stock.

Lil-Lets Senior Brand Manager, Abby Smith - ”Lil-Lets understands women and people with periods, and that using tampons with applicators is a personal choice. We listened when our customers had concerns about the environmental impact of our plastic applicator products, and, following 12 months of product design and testing, we are thrilled to be in a position to make a difference today. This is not a single-use applicator, it was designed to be used and reused.  It is easy to make the swap and by choosing our reusable applicator you will be saving an average of 286 single-use applicators1 from being thrown away and possibly ending up in landfill or oceans. So with one small switch, you can be kinder to the environment.

We believe Ella to be an incredible person making great waves of positive change in period care, and we are thrilled to be aligned to her mission as we make this announcement”

It’s fantastic to see a major brand like Lil-Lets leading the change in the period industry by not only removing single-use plastic from their products, but also developing solutions to combatting unnecessary plastic with their reusable applicator.

I hope you’re as stoked as I am about this news! Thank you for your constant support and I’ll keep you updated as more changes happen. I’ve got something exciting coming up with the campaign soon, which I’ll tell you more about when the time comes!

Ella :)
