Hi Super Supporters!
Today I am launching two weeks of action on Tampax, calling on them to stop the production of their plastic tampon applicators and I need your help!
In May 2019, I went to meet Procter & Gamble, owners of Tampax and Always, at their headquarters to deliver the petition and speak about the many ways that they needed to bring about change. One of the steps that I suggested they take was to remove plastic applicators from Tampax’s products.
Over a year has passed since we met and despite being a global company and a period industry giant, they have failed to make any changes. This is not good enough. Three retailers have listened to the campaign and have responded by removing their plastic applicators, deeming them an ‘unnecessary use of plastic’. So, why can’t they?
Tampax continues to pump out unnecessary plastic with no consideration of the negative environmental impacts. Something must change and that is why I am asking for your help to hold Tampax to account by calling on them to take responsibility by stopping this pointless plastic at source.
Over the next two weeks there are going to be lots of ways that you can get involved and support the campaigns action on Tampax, which will be shared in different updates.
Today’s action is to write a letter to Tampax about why you want them to ditch plastic tampon applicators! All letters sent will be hand delivered by me to their headquarters when I pay them a visit soon. The more letters that I drop off the bigger the impact it will have, so please join in if you can!
What to write: The more personal your letter the better. Here are a few tips and ideas of what you could include.
- Why you want them to ditch plastic tampon applicators
- That it is an unnecessary plastic that is having avoidable environmental impacts and that there are plenty of alternatives
- Do you find them polluting your local environment or a beach nearby? If you do, definitely include that.
- Say why you won’t use Tampax anymore
Where to send your letter:

Remember: If you want a response to your letter from Tampax, make sure to include your contact details such as an email or postal address so that they can get in touch. All letters sent to my PO Box will not be opened by me, I will be hand delivering them to Tampax's HQ in the near future.
Please join in and share with your friends, the bigger the wave of letters and action on Tampax, the greater the impact and pressure it will put on them to change. You could even spread the word to those around you about the action and send multiple letters in one envelope!
You can check out my social media platforms on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, where there will be daily posts over the next two weeks about the campaign action and pictures of letters as they arrive!
Thank you for continuing to support the campaign and for taking action, you are making a difference and are directly helping to break the plastic cycle, period.
Let’s make some noise!
Ella :)
