Make All Bouncers in Benidorm Registered, Licensed & Identifiable
The Issue

We love Benidorm. Millions of Brits go every year, we spend our money there, and most of the staff are brilliant.
But too many of us have seen or experienced the same thing - unregulated, unidentifiable door staff using excessive force, with no way to report who they were.
In the UK, every door supervisor must by law have an SIA licence, display it, and be on a register with their name and licence number. In Benidorm, the law exists on paper for personal de control de acceso but there is no visible ID system for tourists, no central public register, and no easy English-speaking complaints route.
That has to change.
We have all heard the stories:
• Groups of young lads beaten on the Square
• Families seeing violence outside cabaret bars
• Tourists with no name, no number, no evidence to take to the police the next morning
Under Spanish law, bouncers have been charged before for over-aggression, so the authorities know there is a problem. But prevention is better than prosecution.
We call for:
1. Visible, numbered ID - Every bouncer on duty must wear a clearly visible licence card with photo and licence number, like the UK SIA system.
2. A central, regulated register - Held by the Ayuntamiento / Policia Local, proving DBS / criminal record checks and training have been completed.
3. Mandatory training - Conflict de-escalation, legal use of force, and first aid - not just muscle.
4. Accountability - Venues must keep a daily log of who is on the door, available to police, and have CCTV covering entrances.
5. A proper complaints process - A simple form, available in English, at the police station and online, so tourists can report an incident with a licence number, not just "a big guy in black".
This is not about closing bars or stopping nightlife. It's about protecting tourists AND protecting the good, professional door staff who do their job properly.
If you work in Benidorm, live there, holiday there, or have family who do - please sign.
Benidorm is better than this. Let's make it safe and professional for everyone.
