“Peter and the Starcatchers” is a book series by co-authors Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson and published by Hyperion Books/Disney Hyperion. It's supposed to be a prequel to the classic story "Peter Pan" but I consider it more like a retelling or reimagining. I absolutely love “Peter and the Starcatchers!” It's a great book series with an interesting story, action, humor, and lovable characters!

The first book is called “Peter and the Starcatchers” and was first published in 2004. It became a national bestseller and spawned a couple sequels. The second book is called “Peter and the Shadow Thieves” and was published in 2006. It was just as good and successful as the first book! The third book is called “Peter and the Secret of Rundoon” and was published in 2007. It also ended up just as good as the first two books!

The series was originally planned to be a trilogy but Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson ended up writing two more books after them. The fourth book is called “Peter and the Sword of Mercy” first published in 2009 while the fifth book is called “The Bridge to Neverland” first published in 2011. While the additional two books were also good, I kind of disliked them. I felt they were kind of pointless, unnecessary, and disappointing in some ways. I really think the originally intended trilogy is better off without them in my opinion. 

In 2009, the first book was adapted into a Broadway play. It was a huge success and won several awards. Since then, many schools did their own versions of the play. Although it made much less sense than the original novel, I still enjoyed it very much! It's so funny!!

In 2012, Disney were planning to adapt the series into a movie but then it got abandoned much to the disappointment of many fans out there. I recently heard about the cancelled movie and was also truly disappointed. It's so unfair! I really think Disney should bring back the cancelled project!!

If they won't make it into a movie, then maybe they should make it into a Disney+ series instead. Disney recently adapted the book series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” into a hit Disney+ series and I really think they should do that for “Peter and the Starcatchers” too! I truly believe this book series has so much potential either as a movie or TV series!!

Also, if you ask me, I really think Disney should adapt only the originally intended trilogy, not the additional two books. Like I said before, I really disliked them. But despite that part, I still would love to see this amazing series brought to life!

I really think it's time that Disney gave this book series another try!! It's already been way too long since their cancelled project in 2012!!
