Make a Peter Pan & Wendy 2 Happen!!! (Sequel to Disney's Live Action 2023 Remake)

Make a Peter Pan & Wendy 2 Happen!!! (Sequel to Disney's Live Action 2023 Remake)
The Issue
Disney's Peter Pan and Wendy (2023) is a great live action reimagining on the animated classic as well as the original story by J.M. Barrie. It was very interesting, cute, epic, action packed, and of course, magical! All of the cast and characters were great! It's now one of the best Peter Pan movies ever! (In my opinion at least.) It was actually just as good as the animated version and in some ways, was even better! It was also as good as the other live action version from Universal Pictures. Yes, I do think their version is still the best one, but I think they're both great movies in their own ways! The soundtrack was also pretty good as well. It's just too bad this movie was made a Disney Plus exclusive and wasn't released in theaters, DVD/Blu-ray/4K UHD, and other streaming services like the animated version and most of the other Disney remakes but Disney Plus is still pretty awesome though. You know, it was amazing how they released it in the same year of the 70th anniversary of the animated version (1953), the 20th anniversary of the live action version from Universal Pictures (2003), and the 100th anniversary of the Walt Disney Company (2023). It's absolutely incredible! Happy Anniversary to all of them!
(Spoiler alert below!!! Do NOT read this if you haven't seen the movie yet!!!)
However, the movie leaves us hanging with Peter saying goodbye to Wendy and everyone else after their conversation and they fly away on the Jolly Roger. Right before that, Tink actually spoke for the first time by saying goodbye as well! Then Wendy turns to the chimney which has Peter's name written on it and she writes her own next to Peter's which made it now say Peter Pan and Wendy (AKA the title of the movie). Then everyone in the nursery notices Peter flying away on the Jolly Roger and the credits start for a few minutes. Then it stopped and showed Hook and Smee in the Neverland Sea as they suddenly noticed Peter Pan flying toward them on the Jolly Roger and that's where it ends. The story can't end there; we need to see what happened next!! The story wasn't wrapped up properly and the ending wasn't very satisfying either!! This movie needs a sequel!! In fact, there are many reasons why Disney should make a Peter Pan and Wendy 2:
- It was very sad and heartbreaking how Peter and Tinkerbell said goodbye to Wendy. (Actually, it's been like that for many of the versions.) Like I said before, it shouldn't end like that. They need to see each other again! Also everyone else including John, Michael, and the Lost Boys/Girls (who apparently stayed and got adopted by the Darlings this time.) Maybe also have the sequel take place not that long after the first movie and also have Peter see everyone again while they're all still children as well. They need to have everyone return to Neverland if possible. You know, it was pretty interesting how there were also Lost Girls instead of just boys this time. They really need to include all of them in the sequel too. Also, Mr and Mrs. Darling and Nana possibly too as well. Also surprisingly, during Peter and Wendy's conversation on the Darlings' rooftop, Peter never actually said that he didn't want to grow up; he only said he didn't feel ready yet which left me kinda curious. (It would've been pretty interesting to see Peter Pan grow up like he did in Steven Spielberg's Hook which was also a pretty good movie. Not only that but it also would've been really cute to see Peter and Wendy end up together for a change. That's just my opinion.)
- Also, we need to see what happened after Hook (who apparently survived the fall into the sea at the end of the final battle) saw Peter coming back to Neverland on the Jolly Roger, if they really did become friends again, and the story with the other pirates including Smee. It was very interesting how they twisted the story with Captain Hook's origins and rivalry with Peter Pan most notably the fact that he was Peter's very first Lost Boy.
- When everyone were flying away on the Jolly Roger, Tiger Lily, who watched them back in Neverland, said to herself that she will see them again (or I think she meant Wendy mostly.) Her role was fantastic in this movie! They definitely need to include Tiger Lily and the Indians in the sequel! I really liked Tiger Lily's friendship with Wendy in this movie. Like I said before, they definitely need to see each other again!
- Tinkerbell's role was also pretty good but she was the only fairy shown in the movie. They really need to show the other fairies in the sequel. (It was both strange and interesting how Tinkerbell wasn't jealous of Wendy this time.)
- The crocodile was never seen again after the cave entrance collapsed on it after Captain Hook got away from it during his duel with Peter Pan. As far as I know, I don't think the crocodile got killed because, at the end of the movie, Hook heard something which he thought was the crocodile's clock ticking. It also needs to return as well.
- The mermaids were only seen for a few seconds when the children arrived in Neverland. They really should show them more in the second one as well.
- They should unravel more secrets and flashbacks that could expand the story even more! Here are some possibilities: 1) Reveal more about Peter's past like how he first met Tinkerbell, a little bit more about his parents, and maybe even about his shadow. (It was amazing how Peter's shadow had a big role in this movie!) 2) Maybe reveal a little bit more of Captain Hook's past as well. 3) Maybe also reveal how there were Lost Girls because apparently girls, unlike boys, are much too clever to fall out their prams in Kensington Gardens and get sent to Neverland (according to the original story and some of the other (movie) adaptations) 4) Also reveal about Kensington Gardens which is supposed to be where Peter first ran away to.
- Any of these and possibly even more would be very interesting to see in Peter Pan and Wendy 2!
As far as I heard, Disney hasn't confirmed anything about a sequel yet and I have absolutely no idea if they even have any plans to do one or not. Like I said before, this movie deserves and needs a sequel very much! This is a movie that they would have to come out with as soon as possible because all the child actors and actresses (especially Alexander Molony/Peter Pan) are getting older and they will eventually become too old to reprise the roles (unless maybe they can make the kids still look young somehow or maybe all of them getting older could be part of the story perhaps). There is also the option of recasting the characters as well but I hate when they do that! They need to bring back all of the original cast and characters if possible!
This movie deserves a continuation just like the animated version which apparently got one called Return to Neverland (2002) which was actually almost as good as the original. In fact, the animated version is the only well known Peter Pan movie to get a sequel and also some other stuff like the TinkerBell movies which are prequels and the spin off Disney Junior show Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Speaking of the TinkerBell movies, I heard Disney was planning on making one more which would've taken place right before the classic animated movie but it got cancelled because Disney Toon Studios got shut down. I heard it would've showed how Peter Pan first met TinkerBell which is what they didn't get to do in Peter Pan & Wendy like I mentioned before. This sequel could be Disney's chance to show that part (maybe as a flashback) as well as possibly anything else from that cancelled TinkerBell movie! Also, Warner Bros' movie "Pan" was supposed to get a sequel but it got cancelled because it was a huge flop (it was still a great movie in my opinion). We can't let Peter Pan & Wendy become a stand-alone title like Pan and most of the other movie adaptations!!
Just to let you know, I'm definitely not trying to suggest this movie should get a prequel instead. In fact, they already came out with one which is a movie tie-in novel called Tiger Lily and the Secret Treasure of Neverland. This movie shouldn't get any more prequels; it needs a sequel instead! However, if they actually ended up doing a prequel instead, I would still love to see it though. It would still be better than nothing. It just would've been wonderful if it was a sequel though.
Speaking of books, I recently thought of something: If they end up not doing a movie sequel, maybe they should come out with a novel sequel instead. I mean, it would've been wonderful if it was a movie, but a book is also great too and it still would be a sequel nevertheless. They actually did the same for Disney•Pixar's Brave. That movie also never got a movie sequel yet but they came out with a novel sequel instead called "Bravely." I was thinking that maybe Disney should do the same for Peter Pan & Wendy. It seems much more possible for that to happen because, like I mentioned before, they would have to come out with a movie sequel as soon as possible because of the children getting older (unless they did any of the stuff I also mentioned before) while for a book sequel, they can come out with it anytime. Again, speaking of books, they actually gave the original novel a sequel called "Peter Pan in Scarlet" by Geraldine McCaughrean. Unfortunately, it's not as well known as the original story. Although the book was good and interesting, I liked the original novel better. But I still would love to see it get adapted. In fact, I was thinking that maybe they can make "Peter Pan & Wendy 2 based on this forgotten novel possibly.
Here's another thing that bothers me: Disney's "Maleficent" (2014) is currently the only Disney live action remake to get a sequel which is called "Maleficent Mistress of Evil" (2019). It was actually just as good as the original! Not only that but I heard they have a "Maleficent 3" in the works! However, they actually have a live action "Lilo and Stitch 2" in development as well!! I loved the remake so much!! Also, the live action Lion King (2019) recently got a prequel called "Mufasa: The Lion King" and was very successful! Not only that, but I heard some of the other remakes might be getting continuations too possibly. But if they can do that for the other remakes, then why not for "Peter Pan & Wendy?!" This is so unfair!! While there have been several live action remakes that deserve sequels, "Peter Pan & Wendy" is the one that needs it the most!!
I really believe that Disney can come up with a great sequel (or at least I hope they can). It could have so much potential as the original! We need a sequel that will wrap up the story more properly! (G-D willing) We've got to make this happen; the story needs to continue! Please sign, support and share this petition (or should I say Petertion Pan and Wendy? Ha ha! Get it?) if you loved the movie and also think Disney should make a sequel to this amazing live action remake on the beloved classic. Please feel free to share any info and updates about this whole topic in the comments below. Also, please try to give any contributions as well. We need all the help and support as much as possible! Hopefully, if we try to think happy thoughts and have faith, trust, and pixie dust, we can make this happen and then we'll all be able to fly away on another great adventure in Peter Pan and Wendy 2!
(Note: I've noticed that no one else out there has started a petition on this topic so I decided to give it a try myself. This is actually my very first petition ever!)
