Dear Gate-gate campaign supporters,
THANK YOU. With your incredible support, WE DID IT! Tonight, the gates that blocked access to the highway leading to the forestry are finally gone.
We were thrilled to hear the news shortly after lunchtime today that work had begun on their removal. When we went to see for ourselves, the gates that had stood for over 115 days were no longer there. We officially have our highway back, thanks to your unwavering support and the patience of the entire community who stood by us through this process.
This campaign's success is a testament to the dedication of so many, and we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped us from day one:
* Our Core Team: Anna Davies, John Warren, and David Williams, you dedicated countless hours to developing our campaign plans. A special shout-out to David for Advasign's exceptional banners and posters, which were instrumental in getting us off the ground. And to all the spouses and families of our core team, thank you for putting up with our late-night messages as we strategised!
* Our Advisors: Leighton and Eben, your solid advice and support throughout this campaign were invaluable.
* Walking Rights Organizations: To Ramblers Cymru and the Open Spaces Society, especially Kate Ashbrook – your support was critical. Kate, you are one of the most dedicated and knowledgeable expert campaigners we've ever encountered. Without organizations like yours, our walking rights could truly become a thing of the past. And to Bracken the black labrador at the Ramblers Cymru AGM, thank you for keeping us smiling! We strongly encourage anyone passionate about protecting our walking spaces to join these fantastic organisations.
* Our Press Contacts: Ellie Gosling, Charlie Buckland, and Tom Bedford, thank you for consistently highlighting our story with your editors in such a sympathetic way.
* Rhondda Cynon Taf Council: We are grateful to the politicians at the council who ultimately made the decision to carry out the enforcement action.
This victory would not have been possible without every single one of you, particularly the huge number of people who signed our petition so quickly.
We also want to clarify something important: we achieved this successful result without raising a single penny in financial support. Any request for funds you might see on petition platforms is from the platform itself and does not come to us. While we can't remove that request, there is absolutely no need to make any donation.
Most of all, thank you for your incredible support, your lovely comments, wonderful wishes, and inspiring suggestions throughout this campaign.
We set out to achieve this goal in February, and it has been a resounding success.
