Louisville City Council is planning on closing Main Street from April to November this year, and this fall they will vote on a permanent closure. 

• They are doing so based off a request from the Downtown Business Association.
• The city however is making this decision without completing any traffic studies on its impact to the surrounding neighborhood streets. 
• They are not making any parking accommodations for the loss of spaces.
• They are not completing revenue studies to evaluate if the closure will provide an increase in sales tax. 
• RTD has also determined the alternate bus route will run down the residential street of LaFarge, bringing safety concerns to the families that live there. 

Help us plead with council to do their due diligence with the request. They should conduct traffic pattern analyses, examine comparable closures in smaller communities to determine any associated sales tax increases, collaborate with RTD to explore alternative bus routes prioritizing safety, and tackle the escalating parking issues in Old Town.

Support our petition urging the council to prioritize further investigation before making a decision on this crucial matter. Advocate for the postponement of the vote until additional studies are finalized, and the concerns of residents are adequately addressed.
