Commissioner Zamora's response exposes what we've been up against for years now. He has been against us since our neighbors to our south complained to him directly, calling him on his personal cellphone. Mr. Zamora also provided me with his number and called me right after the complaint of the escaped animals back in 2021. I explained to Mr. Zamora that these neighbors had cut the barbed wire back then which caused these animals to end up on their property. Mr Zamora responded to me that it was different then, that it shouldn'taffect us. Of course to him after obvious further communication with these neighbors it all had changed. Eventhough this event had occurred when we were not under our CUP dates, eventhough we proved to Mr Zamora that the fence line belonged to us by providing proof of an ownership affidavit by previous owners, he said during meeting that "the neighbors can do what ever they wanted with their fence ". There was no going back after that for him. He has voted against us ever since. Knowing what's right, the other commissioners have held on to keeping us part of the community. He plugged and plugged away and did away with something special. He got what he wanted though.
In his response to our petition as a "decision maker ", he makes the case that we only started to comply after he/the city filed an injunction to keep us from operating in 2024. The injunction orders us to obtain a CUP permit which we were subsequently approved for in 2025 and were without incident during the 3 month CUP season. So if we complied as we were ordered to in 2024 and received our CUP permit in 2025 and went without incident, the best reason to shut us down in 2026 is to say that we're actually complying with the injunction they set the conditions to? But as he stated in our last meeting this month, it's his district after all and that his greatest attribute is that he'll "plug and plug away until he gets the results he wants"! It's definitely a David and Goliath scenario.
