The current situation at Miami-Dade County Animal Services is deeply concerning. It is imperative that you Madame Mayor Levine Cava takes immediate action to address the mismanagement under the leadership of Annette Jose, the current Director of Animal Services. Her tenure has been marked by inefficiency and a noticeable decline in the quality of care provided to the animals, which has not only affected public sentiment but also the welfare of countless animals who rely on humane treatment and effective services.

Under Jose's direction, there have been numerous reports from concerned citizens and animal welfare advocates regarding the decline in services, neglect, and mishandling of animals. These reports highlight her lack of adequate leadership skills, with a management style that is described as arrogant, mistruths, rude, and unprofessional.  Such behavior from the head of a crucial county department not only damages the public trust but also endangers the lives she is morally obligated to protect.

Replacing Annette Jose with a more competent and compassionate director is essential for restoring the faith of the community in Miami-Dade County's Animal Services. Not only the community is enraged but morale at the shelter in the lowest it has ever been.  The employees are afraid of retaliation.  The majority who care want her out too.  We trust you because the last director you hired was a talented and was an experienced director we trusted and she had a true passion for animals.  If you can't get her to come back, we trust you to find someone with similar attributes. An experienced leader, kindness, respect, honesty, hardworking, and compassion for animals are a few.  We want someone who treats others the way we all want to be treated and the way we want animals and the staff to be treated as well.

 You have failed this community, the people who elected you,  and our animals when you hired Annette Jose and we believe you knew she did not have the qualifications, the experience, and certainly not the personality for the job.  We trust you and we are counting on you to act with urgency. Do not be fooled lies she may feed you   Many have experienced her dishonesty and we believe she has lied to you.  She has no business to be in this position and we believe you know it too.  

Madame Mayor Levine Cava, our community looks up to you for guidance and positive action. Your immediate intervention in replacing Annette Jose will demonstrate your commitment to the welfare of animals and regain the public’s trust. This reversal is not just about rectifying a hiring mistake but is about taking a stand for the thousands of animals that pass through the county's services every year.  It is about taking a stand for your animal services staff and for this community.

Maybe you knew about Annette Jose's lack of ability and that is why the advisory board was established. Maybe it was intended to help Jose do her job but the people on it are just as incompetent. Nothing good has come out of it   What a disaster that has been, again because it is a bunch of women with no experience in running a shelter. Some lady who makes money off the shelter, some lady who failed to establish the pets trust (and we wanted the Pets Trust but she failed) and some lady who we think pushed you to hire Annette Jose?  Is calling the cat advocates derogatory names helping incompetent Annette Jose to do her job? She is truly the worst director this county has ever seen and it is time something is done about it!
