For a company that claims to put pets before profit, most of their employees reviews are rather concerning! Below are just a few examples, left on the Indeed website this year. 25 members of staff, from different locations in the UK.

Colleague (Former Employee) - Aberdeenshire - 19 March 2020
‘Pets at home do not put pets before profit!! Animal care always came second ... always had a lot of sick animals through the back.’

Store Colleague (Former Employee) - Selly Oak - 10 March 2020
Profit before pets, always. Animals minimum cage size was never adhered to if they could sell a cage and animals clearly ill were overlooked.’

Pet store colleague (Former Employee) - Lowestoft, Suffolk - 28 January 2020
The animal welfare is lacking! Animals come from bad breeders. Most Rabbits and Guinea pigs would come in from the delivery smelly, with dirty, urine/poo matted bottoms, genitals and feet. A lot of the animals are sent in with Mites which the breeders deem acceptable. It's not uncommon for poorly, underage, neuroligically deformed animals to come in from the breeder.
Rabbits often died of coccidia (a parasite spread by stress and unclean husbandry) and stress related issues.
A lot of hamsters died of wet tail because they couldn't handle the stress of being in a pet store and aren't from good breeders.

If you care about animals, please boycott Pets at Home.

We have a Pledge group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2969702566382375

Please also keep signing and sharing the latest petition to ban third party sale of all pets. We need a lot more signatures and we haven’t got much time left until it is closed, on 6 January. UK residents and citizens please sign and share widely for the government to respond.
