Petition updatePets at Home, STOP selling rabbits altogether!Pets at Home bunnies end up in the wrong hands again!

Unfortunately another Pets at Home fail. Two rabbits, male and female, were purchased from a Pets at Home store in the Birmingham area a few months ago. The customers didn’t have suitable housing for them and put them in a home-made 4-feet hutch with wire floor, as can be seen on the picture. Of course, the pair started having litters of babies which were then sold cheaply on Shpock to whoever wanted one. Recently the owners advertised all the rabbits for sale, because their kids got bored. They would have happily sold mum, dad and babies separately, despite the three babies being a week old! Luckily the whole family was rescued by Bunnies in Need and is now in good hands with a fosterer. Sadly the mother looks very thin and she is likely to be pregnant again. One of the babies is also very small. A rescue space has been arranged for when they have gained some weight and are strong enough to travel.

Pets at Home claim they care and ask questions and don’t sell easily. So why do these stories keep coming up? One reason is because the selling process is very inconsistent from store to store with many customers reporting that they were just able to walk in, hand in the money and walk out with an animal. Even if the staff ask all the right questions, customers can lie and of course no home-checks are carried out.

Pets at Home = Pets at Risk!

No bunny should suffer for profit!
