Please Do Not Play At SeaWorld's Bayside Stadium In Orlando

The Issue

I grew up listening to your music and heard you are playing at SeaWorld on March 8, 2015. I am very disappointed to hear that you may be a pawn in SeaWorld's attempt to fool your other fans into believing the lie that is SeaWorld. After the truth was finally revealed to the masses via Blackfish the movie many artists cancelled their show at Bayside Arena and at their sister show at Busch Gardens. Willie Nelson, Barenaked Ladies, Heart, Trisha Yearwood, REO Speedwagon, 38Special, Martina McBride, Trace Atkins, Cheap Trick, Pat Benatar and The Beach Boys.

Let us not forget that Joan Jett also joined the list of recording artists distancing themselves from the marine park when she sent a letter to SeaWorld's former President, Jim Atchison, asking that the park stop using her song "I Love Rock 'n' Roll" as the opening music for its "Shamu Rocks" show."I'm among the millions who saw 'Blackfish' and am sickened that my music was blasted without my permission at sound-sensitive marine mammals," Jett said in the letter.

Additionally, Darren Hayes of “Savage Garden” and Edgar Winter of “The Edgar Winter Group” (Free Ride) demanded removal of their music from the SeaWorld shows. Edgar stated that SeaWorld had no clue what this song was about by housing large predators for profit.

Now after the release of Blackfish, public opinion has changed so much that SeaWorld stock has taken a huge nose dive, the former CEO, Jim Atchison, has been demoted, major stock holder, Blackstone is no longer a majority share holder, SeaWorld is now facing SEC charges for lying to investors, they fraudulently continued to charge customers credit/debit cards for season pass renewals, and countless celebrities who have been outspoken against captivity.

This is not an extremist animal rights plot against SeaWorld as they would have you believe. This is about doing what is right. This wasn't educational in the 60's and 70's and it's NOT educational today.  These creatures deserve the ocean where nature intended them to be in the first place. Not to make the rich richer. They all want to be as free as a bird. Don't we all want that?

Please, from a fan and an enlightened soul, do the right thing and choose to not perform for SeaWorld. You are better than this. You are Lynryd Skynyrd! Freedom is priceless. You taught me that!

The following links provide information about captivity and opinions of some of the artists/celebrities who have spoken out against SeaWorld and captivity.

Thank you for your time.

Please call, too.
