Lynchburg City Council has our back...finally!!!
It took us a little longer but it is never too late to do the right thing.
No longer is Lynchburg city a black dot on the 2A Sanctuary map of Virginia surrounded by a sea of green freedom loving counties. We finally followed the lead of hundreds of other localities and said the 2A has a sanctuary here too.
Better late than never. They said it was impossible. They said it could never be done. We said "hold my AR."
Mary Jane Dolan called us dangerous Zealots. She voted with us and then waited till we left the room to reverse her vote and vote against us.
Enemies of the Second Amendment begrudgingly and only under intense pressure, gave us our public hearing at EC Glass after a massive fight and embarrassing them publicly for trying to squeeze us into the tiny city hall chamber where even the Fire Marshall said it was a hazard. So we had our Public Hearing. And what a wonderful peaceful night it was. It was the largest public hearing in Lynchburg city history. Over 1000 citizens attended and hundreds spoke out passionately and peaceably for their self protection civil rights. It was AMAZING!!! We were there till well passed 2 in the morning pouring our hearts out to our representatives.
But then we saw the evil duplicity that had been done. They already had their denial speeches written before they heard one citizen. The fix was in. They already had formulated all their double-speak excuses why they were going to break their Oath to support the US and Virginia Constitutions. It was almost treasonous. Maybe it would have been considered actual treason in another decade. We were heartbroken. How could they take the power We The People had loaned them and completely FAIL to "support the Constitution" that they took an oath to defend and support?! They tried to steal our power and use it against us. This was tyranny pure and simple.
For the next three years we worked to right this wrong by changing the treasonous faces on City Council. Our founding fathers gave us the ballot box and the ammo box. And we used them. From a 2 to 5 anti 2A majority, we switched it to a 5 to 2 2A friendly council. No more Council of Corruption. Now we had a Constitutional Council. And their 2nd act was to right this wrong.
If you aren't a Sanctuary for the 2nd Amendment, you are a "sanctuary for criminals" and we saw that truth happen in front of our eyes. Crime soared, lives were lost, our police were overwhelmed. Treney Tweedy, Mary Jane Dolan, Beau Wright and Sterling Wilder and their cronies presided proudly over the mess they had made. But now they are almost all gone. :-)
What is next? Well we accomplished the stated mission of this public petition. The first Amendment gives us the right to petition our representatives and we did. Now we want to rid Lynchburg of the 2A Tax that we pay for a Concealed Cary Permit. Taxing gun owners is a clear INFRINGMENT. Imagine if our other rights were taxed!!!! Speech tax?? Religion tax?? This tax has to stop. Council can reduce their part of that tax NOW!!! And they have indicated support to do so. Let us keep our hard earned money so we can buy more GOOD GUY GUNS to protect our wives and children. That is what I plan to do with the savings. Let's get it done before my CC permit expires in March! LOL.
But seriously, thank you to those who voted to have our back. Jeff Helgeson, Marty Misjuns, Larry Taylor, Stephanie Reed and Chris Faraldi. And continuing shame on Mary Jane Dolan and Sterling Wilder who remain "confused." We aren't confused and we will be coming for your seats on council soon. Your betrayal of your oath will not be forgotten.
