Hi all
As you know from our previous updates Daiichii Sankyo (the pharmaceutical company that manufactures Enhertu)and Astrazenca decided to pull the plug on having the drug appraised by NICE in July because NICE have changed the way they rate the severity of a cancer. Daiichii Sankyo are saying that NICE under the new rating system will rate NSCLC as a moderate severity which means it devalues the disease and NICE will take the attitude that it will not be cost effective to the taxpayer.
This now means that there is absolutely no chance of the drug being funded by the NHS in the near future.
Lung cancer patients in the UK are dying and are now the collateral damage due to the fallout between NICE and Daiichii Sankyo. This is inhumane.
Until they submit their evidence we cannot move forward in getting this drug to lung cancer patients who so desperately need it. We need to have a clearer picture of who is to blame for preventing lung cancer patients getting access to Enhertu through the NHS. NICE and Daiichii are both pointing the the finger of blame at each other. If Daiichii Sankyo/Astrazeneca submit the evidence for appraisal we will then know for definite who is to blame for holding back this drug.
We are now approaching £200,000 which we have paid to Daiichii Sankyo/AstraZeneca for the Enhertu drug, which is causing us added stress and affecting our mental health. We have begged the government, the hospital, NICE and the drug companies for help. Unfortunately none of them give a damn or have shown the slightest bit humanity.
We would now like to ask all of our supporters to help us by sending an email to Daiichii Sankyo and Astrazenca (who are in partnership with Daiichii Sankyo)asking them to submit the evidence to NICE for the appraisal of Enhertu for treating NSCLC HER2.
Below is a paragraph that you may like to use as an example:
