During the current Coronavirus pandemic, key workers are being forced to take cramped public transport to get to work, putting them in danger of contracting the virus themselves. This needs to stop.

You may have seen recent images of hundreds of people on tubes in London, not practising social distancing because they simply can't get to hospitals any other way. They currently have no other choice.

There are over 20,000 black cabbies in London out of work. All London black cabs have a protective division between the driver and the back of the taxi, meaning that it's near impossible for Covid-19 to spread between drivers and passengers. 

We need to utilise this workforce by asking the LTDA and the British Government to work on a public plea to ask cabbies to offer their services free of charge to key workers, and to support with petrol costs. We need a public body's support to create a scheme to help get the word out and connect NHS workers with cabbies.

These are the people who are fighting at the front-line to save lives. These are the people who are caring for your loved ones if they get sick. These are the last faces the dying see, as they help them suffer less on their death bed. We need to protect the people who are saving lives.
