Lower VAT on Electric Superchargers and Implement a Charging Premium Cap

The Issue

I am an electric car owner living in an apartment, and I am faced with an inconvenient truth; to charge my vehicle, I must rely on public chargers or superchargers, both of which cost astronomically high rates. Electric vehicle owners find themselves unfairly disadvantaged due to these prohibitive prices, and superchargers are still scarce, adding to our daily commuting challenge.

A vast majority of electric vehicle owners share my predicament and endure these high costs, which is absolutely unfair. It's high time for a regulatory change. We believe that fair pricing could be achieved by capping the price charged per KW/h at public charging points. This would make the use of electric vehicles more affordable for everyone and would significantly encourage electric vehicle adoption.

Moreover, the government can play a pivotal role in correcting this disparity. By adjusting the Value Added Tax (VAT) on the KW/h in line with domestic charging standards, the financial burden on electric car users could be significantly eased. A reduction to even a 10% VAT would mark a substantial improvement.

We call upon our government to demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability and take steps towards lowering the VAT on electric superchargers and instituting a cap on charges at public charging stops. By signing this petition, you'd be contributing to a fairer, greener future for all electric vehicle owners. Please sign and support our cause.
