We have been denied the right to meaningful political action since the establishment of the United States and the ratification of the Constitution. Now more than ever, high schoolers all over the country feel silenced and unheard. We have been ignored and rejected, with the excuse that "we aren't mature enough".

     It is time to take action and lower the voting age to 16. Many youths feel as if political opinions are a very large part of their identity. Many issues that affect young people are completely out of reach to them. Youth should have a say in issues that affect them directly, as well as ones that affect their future. The young generation is the future of this country, so denying them the right to vote is extremely inane.
