Lower the Excessive Vehicle Registration Fees in Colorado

Lower the Excessive Vehicle Registration Fees in Colorado
The Issue
I am a resident of Colorado for over five years, and in these years, I have experienced the financial strain of our state's vehicle registration fees. These fees are upwards of 2/3 to 5/6 times higher than almost every other state, with the exception of Hawaii. This astonishes me and deeply concerns me for my fellow Coloradans, especially those who have been bearing this burden for decades.
Colorado's vehicle registration fee doesn't change until the vehicle is 10 years old, meaning we are expected to pay these extravagant fees for a significant portion of our vehicles' life. This policy fails to consider the financial condition of the American working class and takes undue advantage of the people who have made Colorado their home.
Understanding the importance of vehicle registration fees for state revenue, it's still crucial to balance it with the financial capabilities of the residents, especially working-class families. Lower vehicle registration rates are not a radical idea - it's a precedent set by the majority of states in our country, and it's high time Colorado follows suit.
Through this petition, we urge the Colorado state authorities to review and lower the vehicle registration fees. As Coloradans and responsible citizens, our request is simple: make the vehicle registration fees fair and affordable to all, making it a truly inclusive state that takes care of its residents. Join us in urging the authorities to lower these fees. Sign the petition. Share it with your community. Together, we can make a difference.
