Lower IGCSE Grade boundaries 2025

Lower IGCSE Grade boundaries 2025
O problema
We, the undersigned students, parents, and educators, call on the examination boards (Cambridge Assessment / Pearson Edexcel) to reconsider the grade boundaries set for the June 2025 IGCSE examinations.
This year, the boundaries have been set unusually high — with 90% required for an A* in many subjects. This is inconsistent with past years, where grade boundaries reflected both the difficulty of papers and the real performance of students worldwide.
Why this matters:
Unrealistic Standards: Expecting near-perfect scores across all subjects fails to account for differences in paper difficulty and the global student population.
Unfair Comparison: Previous cohorts had more balanced boundaries, meaning the Class of 2025 is being held to disproportionately tougher standards.
Student Well-being: Unrealistic grade thresholds increase stress, disadvantage students applying to universities, and undermine confidence.
Equity & Consistency: Exam boards have always maintained that grade boundaries are set after exams are taken, to ensure fairness. Using “standardized” thresholds contradicts this principle.
Our request:
We respectfully urge the examination boards to:
Recalculate the June 2025 grade boundaries in line with the actual performance of candidates, as done in all prior years.
Ensure transparency by publishing how grade boundaries were determined this year compared to previous years.
Fair grade boundaries are not about lowering standards — they are about ensuring consistency, fairness, and recognition of real student achievement.
Sign this petition to demand fairness for the June 2025 IGCSE cohort!
