We all know that this petition will take time to gather enough signatures to make a difference. We aren’t under the impression that it will happen over night. However, the best way to secure more signatures is to share the petition once you’ve signed it. Share it to Facebook, share it on Twitter and Instagram. Share it on any social media platform you associate with. Share it as much as possible because we all know the Fake News will refuse to acknowledge the petition. It doesn’t fit their narrative. You can expect Police Unions and Sheriff’s Departments to come out in force against this, because without civil asset forfeiture they can’t afford to militarize. 

With that being said, we have secured legal representation should the Louisiana government fail to act on our petition. The fact if the matter is, plain and simple, cannabis prohibition is unconstitutional. It goes against our State Constitution. Prohibition spits in the face of freedom and liberty. Louisiana should focus on real crime and real criminals. Louisiana should stop wasting over $300 million, annually on the prohibition of a plant. There have been so many people with life sentences for cannabis. Don’t take our word for it, google it. Take a look on google to see how many sex offenders are roaming free, how many who’ve murdered someone are roaming free while cannabis users sit in jail. It’s time to be tough on real crime and the victimless “crime” of cannabis use to be eradicated from the law. If you come home from a hard days work and enjoy an ice cold beer, you should have the right to do the same with cannabis. After traveling to multiple states that have legalized cannabis, we can say with certainty(and statistics to back it up), legalizing cannabis is the best way to stop those under 21 from getting it. With licensed businesses that are required by law to ID people. In Colorado, for instance, they scan your ID to verify that it’s not a fake. There’s not a store in Louisiana that scans an ID for alcohol which is why so many teenagers have access. Responsible adults should have the right to choose between cannabis and alcohol.
