The Los Angeles County Department of Health (LACDPH) has failed our city. Cases continue to be sky-high despite many of the harshest restrictions in the country. During the last two years, they have been instrumental in doing the following:

1. Closing schools for 15 months, which is now universally seen as a catastrophic, unnecessary mistake that has massively impacted our children, crippling their development, particularly the underserved.
2. Destroying thousands of independent businesses and livelihoods, particularly restaurants, entertainment venues and bars, the very essence of what makes Los Angeles a premier global city. 
3. Driving out hundreds of critically needed frontline workers due to vaccine mandates that even the Center for Disease Control (CDC) acknowledges does not stop the spread of an increasingly endemic virus. 
4. Failing to align with CDC guidance by imposing additionally stringent measures without research backing their justification or effectiveness.
5. Terrifying the entire city for two straight years instead of calmly providing information about different risk profiles, which has resulted in city-wide panic and a mental health crisis that will take years to unwind.
6. Inflicting the most onerous restrictions on those least at-risk, our school-children, causing emotional and mental harm to their development that we can't even begin to calculate.
7. Failing to provide information about any COVID treatments; only vaccines and masks are ever mentioned or pushed.
8. NEW - Threatening new mask mandates even as hospitals are NOT under stress and no other county in the entire NATION is bringing them back.

It’s time for a new approach, one that acknowledges mitigation protocols that make sense but that also treats the citizens of Los Angeles as informed adults with all of the rights and responsibilities entitled to us. To recognize that mandatory masking does not work, and has not worked anywhere in the world.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over but expecting different results. LACDPH has been insane for over two years now. It’s time to bring sanity back to Los Angeles, restore our city's confidence in Public Health policies, and remove Dr. Barbara Ferrer.
