Lorne Avenue Resurfacing Project with a dedicated Turning Lane

The Issue

Have you ever driven on Lorne Avenue, during shift a change or at any busy time? It’s a challenge! Lorne Avenue is lined with numerous industrial businesses that cause traffic delays due to left hand turns, and it also has the only four roads leading to Griffith Road; another busy industrial area!

There are several significant sites for development, and as these new facilities are built, we can expect even greater traffic congestion!

Is our city taking into account the future of this vital artery in Stratford? It also serves as the official truck route beginning at Huron and O’Loane, which adds at least 15 minutes to the travel time for any truck that uses it.

Stratford City Planning should prioritize the next resurfacing project to Lorne Avenue. This project is crucial for improving traffic flow and safety. Key improvements should include:

  • Adding a dedicated turning lane: This will significantly ease congestion between Romeo and O'Loane streets.
  • Addressing the truck route issue: The current truck route is frequently disregarded, leading to safety concerns and traffic problems. This project will directly address this issue.

Is there an Environmental Grant Potential: This project's impact on traffic patterns and the official truck route makes it a strong candidate for an environmental grant. The improvements will reduce congestion, emissions, and enhance overall traffic safety.
