The Issue

Update: 01/13/2022 -- Adminstration has revised the decision. Please see below for a message from the adminstration.

Thank You!

"We had planned to pilot testing days this semester, however we are not proceeding with the implementation at this time. Course syllabi will be updated to reflect exam dates during scheduled class time."

LIU Post Nursing Program has decided for all sections to take the exams on the same day- For all students to take it on THURSDAY @ 4:30 PM. However, students have a clinical schedule on Thursdays, some students have work on Thursdays, and some students have to pick up their Kids from school. We all planned our work, clinical, and kid's schedule according to our Classes' schedules. Now a week before classes start, we are getting an email to “please rearrange your schedule.”

We registered in November and submitted work schedules after our spring semester schedule was figured out and now a week before classes starts, we can’t rearrange our schedule at such short notice.

Beginning of every semester there are decisions made for students without students' opinions and students have to compromise at the last minute because the administration always has one thing to say to students: “choose what’s your priority”.

If this decision was made for FALL 2023 and we were informed in May or when we started registering for Fall 2023, then it is understandable however right now for us this is either choosing to pursue Nursing Program or Choosing our families' responsibilities.

The administration does not understand students are already making efforts to continue to finish the program. But if the administration keeps making unexpected changes a week before classes start, students will be forced to make drastic decisions such as quitting the program.

We hope at least once the administration takes our voices into consideration!
