I also wanted to give everyone an update on the London Safe Pods project.
After speaking with engineers and listening to their feedback, I've had to simplify the pod design. The original concept included more features, but the advice has been clear.
If we want this to have a realistic chance of becoming a pilot project, we need to keep costs as low as possible. The simpler and more practical the design is, the easier it will be to present to councils, government and other organisations.
The next step is taking the concept to a professional engineer who can turn the idea into a proper engineering design and perhaps a prototype plan. This is a crucial stage because there are still a lot of technical questions that need answering, and I want those answers to come from qualified professionals.
I'll soon be launching a GoFundMe.
The money raised will help cover the professional engineering work needed to develop the concept properly, as well as support a community fundraising day.
The long term goal is to build a working prototype that can be presented to officials. Engineers have advised that having a real prototype would make people take the project much more seriously.
We all know this isn't going to happen overnight, but I'm committed to seeing how far we can take this. I'll continue to keep everyone updated every step of the way.

I've spoken to many young people, including those affected by violence, as well as parents who have tragically lost children to knife crime. So many have told me they believe a project like this could help. That's why I believe it's worth fighting for.
