Thank you everyone. We made it to 1,000 signings at 6pm this evening. BUT there is still more to do! We want to take this up to 4,000 signatures. Please ask others you know who might feel strongly to sign. This is about i) non consultation and ii) loss / degradation of 48 year old facility. £23m is being spend and yet there has been zero involvement of local people. Every adult in a household may sign. Young people aged 11 - 17 will be accepted under the council's petition rules. Each signatory does however need their own unique email address. You cannot sign twice with the same email. Do this and we will very quickly reach our target of 4,000!!! FOUR THOUSAND will force a full open debate in the council chamber. All 60 ward councillors will then be able to take part. Big issues like this are normally dealt with by the small core leadership. Many councillors of all parties who are usually excluded from such high profile decision making would make good use of any formal opportunity to question the core group and make their views known.
