Thank you for signing my petition and also for the wide range of insightful and encouraging supporting comments. Please help us get to 4,000 signatures. Under council rules this forces a full open debate in the council chamber. All 60 ward councillors will then be able to take part whereas big decisions are usually taken by a core Cabinet of 8. Please can you ask friends and neighbours to sign if they agree that a project of such great local interest should be fully and widely consulted. The rules say that young people aged 11-17 may sign if they state their age. This is an exercise in practical citizenship for them! The Waltham Forest Council leadership and their preferred management partner Greenwich Leisure Limited who trade under the clearly ironic customer facing name of 'Better' seem determined to get this through the planning vote on Tuesday 3rd February 2015. We will be opposing them all the way.
