Rays Bottom Land WAL002 Walmer Deal Help save this beautiful place
The Issue
New Dover District plan site WAL002
Have your say and support us... Walmer and Deal
- This plan has been sent out during a pandemic with disregard to the public being notified in an adapted way it has been up to us local residents to use all methods of getting this information out, its appalling in our opinion that more has not be done than the Government standard guidelines that are not fit for purpose in this current climate.
This beautiful valley has been included in the draft local plan for 100 new properties and we need your support please join our petition to have this removed and protect our beautiful landscape full of history and natural wildlife and connected to significant historical importance.
Walmer and Deal are subject to a high disproportionate amount of new development and the current SA from Dover District Council is incorrect and inadequate in our opinion with its findings. The SA fails to offer up accurate effects on the Sustainability Appraisal -
SA2b - Health risk rated as 0 / SA3 - Employment rated as a positive / SA6 Air Pollution rated as 0?... There is already planning and significant development of new homes in this area, this site in particular would have a huge impact on local traffic, the environment and quality of life for local residents the destruction of a beautiful natural wildlife area and the emissions and pollution will in no doubt have a considerable impact.
This beautiful valley is frequented by many species of birds and wildlife that thrive in this habitat and location, many families local residents and further a field visitors.
Opposite tree lines are home to the many birds that are not found anywhere else. This valley is on the conservation area of Hawkeshill Freedown and Walmer Castle with historical significance dating back to both world wars.
If the site is put forward in the plan the impact on safety for children going to and from school the level of traffic and noise would be impossible to mitigate the area has sustained high levels of development enough is enough lets protect the remaining beautiful historic places we have.
- WAL002 is a Greenfield site linked to the conservation area of Hawkshill Freedown and Walmer Castle.
- Wildlife & birds and also historical importance are connected to this site.
- That the entire site WAL002 is an established buffer zone between the existing urban development of Hawksdown, the Freedown & Walmer Castle.
- This site is Liable to flooding.
- The Environmental impact of such site would increase the carbon footprint in the area not encourage reduction due to its location.
- With the large developments that have already taken place and have planning there would be a negative effect on employment in an area with very Low or no new local job opportunities being provided.
This site should be removed for many reasons the above are just a couple, this site goes against the promotion of positive effect on the environment and becoming carbon neutral encouraging better forms of travel.
The site location has no footpaths or roads to sustain such a development on any scale and the site has no easily accessible transport links.
Please help by signing and promoting this petition as much as possible, your voice deserves to be heard.
