Stop dog attacks by criminalising irresponsible ownership!

The Issue

Dog attacks in London and in the rest of the U.K. are drastically increasing on other people and their pets. Dog attacks on other dogs where the dog is severely injured or killed due to irresponsible ownership should be criminalised!

These attacks should not be happening and MUST be stopped as a matter of urgency before more people and animals are killed.

Our dog was attacked recently by a dog that was running off lead and completely out of control in our local park. Now he has to face weeks to months of veterinary treatment in order to be able to recover fully.

This causes extreme trauma and psychological distress for family members who witness these horrific attacks and it may take a very long time to heal from (if ever!)

We were incredibly lucky that our dog survived an attack but other dog owners may not be so lucky next time. The initiative must be taken now to stop this problem from getting worse.

This really needs to be enforced. Either the existing laws need to be upheld and implemented more strongly so these dog owners are caught and prosecuted accordingly or new laws created to approach the problem more effectively. This is for all dog owners who are not taking responsibility.

More preventative measures are needed so this kind of thing doesn’t even happen and if it does, it is a rare event that carries heavy consequences.

Please sign this petition to bring in tougher laws and penalties for irresponsible dog owners who continue to let their dogs run off the lead without proper recall.

If someone has their dog on a lead, another dog running up to them off lead (regardless of whether it is a big a or small dog), could be enough to provoke a fight that has irreversible and life changing consequences. Not all dogs want to be approached.

So many dog owners say ‘Oh don’t worry, my dog is friendly’ without considering the needs/possible anxiety levels of the other dog. Without proper recall for the dog off lead, the consequences could be catastrophic!

No dog owner should have to go through the absolute tragic heartbreak of losing their family pet in such a horrific way. We CANNOT allow this to keep happening to people.

Thank you so much for your support. We really can make a positive difference by coming together on this.

Let’s make a real change!
