Our local nursery, Lundin Mill, is a vital part of the Lundin Links, Lower Largo, and Upper Largo community, providing educational foundation for our children. However, the existing policies of Fife Council are not prioritising geographical location when considering nursery applications. This policy has forced local children to attend nurseries farther afield, compromising families' routines and children's early educational experiences within our community. 

Being able to walk to nursery, integrate with local children at an early age, and smoothly transition into P1 with their peers is a vital component of early childhood education. These community bonds not only enhance a child's sense of belonging but also contribute to their personal, social, and emotional development. Therefore, it is unquestionably beneficial and of utmost importance that our local children are given the change to attend their nearest nursery,  Lundin Mill  just by virtue of their geographical closeness.

In light of this, we urge Fife Council to take these concerns into immediate consideration and revise the current admissions policy at Lundin Mill nursery. Prioritising local children during the process would ensure that our community continues to foster and deliver its vital role in shaping our children’s formative years. It would not only alleviate the stress on families but also allow children to reap the benefits of early childhood education within their community.
